Letters Series: Letter from a Region in My Mind

Join us for a series of informal discussions of various letters written as acts of witness in times of crisis. In this session we’ll be discussing James Baldwin’s Letter from a Region in My Mind.

This essay from the famed novelist and social critic was originally published by The New Yorker on November 17, 1962. Here Baldwin examines the relationship of race and religion drawing on his own experiences with the Christian church and his conversations with Elijah Muhammad and others connected with the Nation of Islam. 1st Floor Conference Room.
