David Hatch

Class of 2021

A member of Chester Presbyterian Church for 45 years, Dave grew up in the Baptist church, although an ancestor, Rev. Lemuel Durant Hatch, was the first installed pastor of the Presbyterian Church in New Bern, NC (June 15, 1822).  Rev. Hatch was also Moderator of the Synod of North Carolina in 1828.  As Dave quotes, “Who does not believe in predestination when a born a raised Baptist boy dates and marries a Presbyterian girl and become Presbyterian himself. It was in my genes from the beginning.”

As a deacon, David has become very involved in Parish care and tends to his Shepherd group, providing rides to church and church activities to those unable to drive.

Married to wife Jane for 60 years, David and Jane have 3 sons and 10 ten grandchildren. Retired from the Products and Engineering Design group of Reynolds Metals Corporate R&D Division, Dave’s 35 year career worked with the customer from concept to finished product, transitioned to aluminum from other materials.

Currently with a waning interest in digging and planting, David follows ACC college football and basketball, with a persistent tilt to VT Hokies. He also enjoys historical novels and is interested in genealogy.
